Colorado Ranch Wedding

This wedding was especially meaningful to me not only because of the beautiful celebration, but because this family has been part of my floral journey from the very beginning.

Eighteen years ago, I was a young 28-year-old with a brand-new flower shop and a head full of dreams. I still remember the day Wendy’s dad walked through my doors and asked if I could deliver flowers to their family every week for a few months. I had no idea then that a simple flower delivery would become the beginning of an 18-year friendship.

Every time he walked into the shop, he would greet me with, “How’s my favorite florist?” Those words have stayed with me all these years. I’ve never forgotten that first year, the trust he placed in me, or the privilege of watching their family grow. So when I was asked to be part of Wendy’s daughter’s wedding, it felt like such a full-circle moment and an incredible honor.

The bride and groom both share a love for Lord of the Rings, and the ranch where they celebrated held such special meaning for them. They wanted their florals to reflect both: something elegant and romantic, but also organic, whimsical, and connected to the land.

We foraged cattails right from the ranch and incorporated moss, grasses, and pods to bring in those subtle Lord of the Rings touches. Then we layered in luxurious dahlias, ranunculus, and garden roses for elegance, with cosmos and zinnias adding a little whimsy and that beautiful, relaxed ranch feel.

But honestly, my favorite part wasn't just seeing the flowers come together. It was knowing that, 18 years after a young florist opened the doors to her first little shop, I was still here creating flowers for a family who had been there cheering me on from the very beginning.

I absolutely loved how everything came together and even more, I loved being part of this family's story again. And, now they are writing a new chapter and I’m so excited for them. Stay tuned…
